Guest Post: Amber Eyes by Gabbi Black

Today my guest is Gabbi Black talking about her new release: Amber Eyes

Tell us a little about yourself.

I wrote my first romance when I was in the eighth grade but took some time off to get a traditional education. By the end of earning my undergraduate degree in theater, the writing bug had bitten me again.  I wrote on and off for years but in 2012 started to take the endeavor seriously.  I have written a whole bunch of books and am finally seeing the fruits of my labors being recognized and my third romance is being published this week.

What do like the most and the least about writing?

What I love the most is the creative process – actually sitting down and pounding out that first draft.  What do I like the least?  It’s a toss-up between editing and marketing, but both are beasts of burden that come with this endeavor.

Blurb:

School principal Gage Clayton is still grieving the death of his wife and submissive, yet he can't ignore his Dominant needs. As he enters Club Kink, he's inexplicably drawn to a newly released sub with an intriguing proposition and the most captivating amber eyes. But she has disturbing baggage and her expectations prove quite a challenge, one that would necessitate a commitment he's not ready for.

Rielle Reid needs a Dom while she waits for her former Master to return. When she invites a handsome stranger to her home dungeon for a night of play, she's surprised at his gentle dominance—and her response to it. But in the light of day, his demand for equal footing confounds her. After living four years as a twenty-four/seven slave, she has no concept of how to be anything other than property.

Gage must find a way to master Rielle to free them both from the shackles of the past.

What’s next on the writing horizon for you?

I am currently editing books 2 and 3 in the series I’ve titled In Their Eyes.  Amber Eyes is the first in the dark erotic BDSM trilogy.   I’ve also written another gay romance (under the pen name Gabbi Grey) and I am editing it as we speak.

Is there anything you want to tell readers?

If not for the encouragement of readers, I wouldn’t be here.  I love hearing back from readers who’ve read my book and getting the feedback.  I also want to slip in that I have some experience in the realm of BDSM so there might be some first-hand knowledge in the book.  Names have been changed, of course.

Exclusive excerpt:

“I want you to tell me what you want, Rielle.”

Relief flooded her face in an unguarded moment. “I want you.”

This time he understood. “Where?”

She pointed in the direction opposite from the dungeon, to a door he hadn’t noticed before. They moved toward it, and when he grasped the handle, she placed a hand on his, stilling his motion.

He met her gaze and held it. “Trust me.” He mentally willed her to have the courage, knowing what a leap this was for her.

Her wide eyes shone, and her lower lip quivered.

He longed to bite and then soothe it, and perhaps her fears, but this wasn’t the right moment. A solemnity and an earnestness he’d not felt from her before enveloped, and he wasn’t going to do anything to break the mood.

Eventually, she removed her hand.

He twisted the handle, and in the pitch-black room, ran his hand against the wall for the light switch, flipping it on. Together, they stepped into the room that was pure white and therefore pure light. One wall was lined with shelves crammed with books. Another wall’s shelves were full of movies and music. An antique lamp adorned a desk with a laptop. The space was the antithesis of the dungeon.

In more ways than one.

Instead of a California king bed, a narrow single bed was pressed into the corner, so small it might’ve belonged to a child. White throw pillows and a coverlet provided contrast to the solitary color in the room—a brown worn-out teddy bear propped amongst the pillows.
