The craziness of release weekend

Wow, what a weekend it has been.

Release weekends are a pretty much stressful time for a writer, especially me.  I always obsessing about my Amazon numbers, watching for new reviews and in general, just making myself go crazy :)

But there isn't a job in the world I would rather be doing.  I love writing and getting my books into the hands of my readers.

Cowboy Spanking

Did that get your attention?

I’ve started my new WIP and I’m having a little trouble so I figured I’d come to my blog readers for help.

This is the first committed ménage book I’ve written, while I’ve written menage’s before this is the first one where all three will be a committed threesome.

My two hero’s who of course are both dominate, Ry is my Sheriff and Jed is my Rancher/Cowboy. Now these two play off each other really well, but what I discovered in talking to my characters. Yes, I talk to them but that’s a different story. Jed likes to be spanked, he gets off on it.

Would it turn you off as a reader to have one of the hero’s like to be spanked, and want to be spanked by the heroine?

I’m walking a fine line here and I want everyone’s opinion on how they would feel about this. I want to know if you’d read it or not.

Hi Marie, thank you so much for hosting me today. I've been writing romance for ab

out four years, and in the last year, I've fallen in love with erotic romance. Especially, cowboys. Even though I'm a city girl, I have wild fantasies about men in Stetsons and boots, and I use these daydreams to create characters and plots for my books. My first book, Chase and Seduction was released May 27 from The Wild Rose Press' Cowboy Kink line.

What do like the most and the least about writing?

I love being able to find a story in my own mind, create plot twists and character quirks, and write really hot love scenes. I like to dream up a story a

nd just let it flow onto the paper (well, laptop, actually.) And it's so much fun to go back to a story after a month or two, and say, "Did I write that? Wow!" Sometimes I surprise myself.

The only thing I don't like is that, for a writer, there is no end to what can be done. There are always blogs to frequent or write, marketing to do, Facebooking to catch up on, and the ever-present blank screen that needs filling. But it's important to take a

break, connect with family and friends, exercise, go outside, have fun. And even more important to not feel guilty about not being at your computer!

Chase grabbed Reno’s arm and rushed her out of the building. As the door closed behind him, he said, “I get damn uncomfortable when women cry.”

Reno kept her head down and wiped the tears from her cheeks.

He stopped and bent to look at her face. “Aw, not you, too!”

She giggled. “It was just so touching.”

“Baby, you’re a sensitive soul.”

“Me?” She smiled. “I’m sensitive? You’re the one who did all this.” She gestured to the bar. “Singing and giving the hat off your head to people you don’t know—”

He shook his head and started walking. “It’s the least I could do. It was nothing.”

She jogged to catch up. Was he embarrassed to be caught doing something nice? He did a lot for others. She read a story about him, way back when they were casting the movie, that talked about the domestic shelters Chase sponsored. Hundreds of them in cities across the US, in honor of his mother. Lacing her fingers into his, she said, “I was proud to be with you tonight.”

He ran his hand through his hair and looked at her. “I’m glad you came with. People treat me different mostly, and it gets old.”

“Lonely.”

He unlaced their fingers and put his arm around her. “Yeah.” Helping her into the truck, he kissed her fingers. “But not anymore.” Their gazes fused, and Reno felt her chest expanding, as if her soul linked with his.

As he closed the door and walked around the hood, she whispered, “And never again, Chase."

Galleys Have Arrived

Over the weekend my editor at The Wild Rose Press sent me the galleys for my newest book, Quick Silver Ranch: Saddle Up

It's been a busy weekend for me being on the Whipped Cream Review blog all weekend, but it was a blast.

It's February

I'm having a little trouble believing its February already. It seems like Christmas and New Years was just yesterday.

January was a busy month, edits on the next book, then getting promotional material together for the release of: Quick Silver Ranch: Roped and Ready, plus the day job.

I worked a little on my new WIP, and have the last WIP back from my critique group. In Feb. I need to be a bit more disciplined about my writing, I'm usually very good at the beginning of the year.

For all of you reading my blog, I'm going to be on several different blogs this month so keep your eyes open. I will post on my blog where I am with a link.

Tell us a little about yourself:

Let's see. I'm a Canadian girl. I'm a single gal. Oh if only my personal life were as successful as my books. I'm the proud Aunt of two nephews who my everything.

I'm coming off a five year hiatus. The words dried up when my dad died. Truthfully, I dried up. Then last year I found myself opening up old Word files, reading old releases and I realized how much I missed writing. Coming back has been a gruelling battle because I kept telling myself "It wasn't this hard 5 years ago." and "Five years ago I was good…what's all this crap??"

I've always written, always created stories. The first story I manufactured was in grade one when I told a friend we were moving to Japan. I didn't even know where Japan was but I convinced her. It took awhile for me to find erotic romance. My best friend (the no longer writing) Kate Lang was on confined to bed with her pregnancy and both of us were having a hard time with our writing (recovering from two equally horrific romantic comedies) when she found Ellora's Cave and called me up: "We can totally write this." We read a few stories and yes…we could totally write this. Once I found erotic-romance everything just fit. The characters, the wicked wicked sex, and the utter freedom of writing what I was supposed to be writing, not what others thought I should.

That was the lesson I learned with attempting writing series romances and (gag) romantic comedy - write what fits you and it will all come together. You'll no longer feel like you suck as a writer. Once you find where your words fit…man…it's the best high.

What do like the most and the least about writing?

It's all co-related for me. I've forgotten how much I love writing since I stopped five years ago after my dad's death. The words seemed so unimportant then. It's the voices, you know? The ones that awaken and say "Have I got a story for you." The entire process has a love-hate thing for me. I love the words, I hate I jump the plot shark. I love when it works. I hate when it works because then I have to stop writing because the reality of my job beckons or I can't sleep because those damn voices in my head. I love the fear of submitting. I hate the waiting. I love it all - even the parts I hate. I just love this job. Period.

Give us a peek into your latest published work?

Country singer and secret Domme Jessa Brody is home to perform at the Calgary Stampede and to brainstorm some new songs for her next album. “Oh, he’s a love.” Standing up, she walked over to the horse and leaned against him. “Aren’t you?” She stroked the horse’s back, loving the curve and muscles.

Luke’s gaze followed her hand.

Jessa gave the muscular rump a sharp slap and Luke’s nostrils flared. Her body hummed. She handed him the guitar then hopped onto the gate. Swinging her legs over, she jumped down.

“See, the secret to Crow is simple.” Finally, she faced Luke.

He tried to look casual and unaffected but she didn’t believe the act. Luke held himself still—wary yet curious, curious but wary.

“He’s all tough and shit until you set the rules. A little knee in the belly as you tighten the cinch. Revision on new Book

I've been working on revisions to my third book "Saddle Up."

It's always interesting when I have to do revisions because it almost as creative as writing the book the first time. I have to do a bit more thinking than creating due to deletion and addition of scenes, but it keeps me busy and happy.

Many writers hate the word revision, I don't, at least not yet. It helps me see where I can make my book better, and allows me to see what I can do better in the next book.

Sold Book 3

I'm happy to announce the sale of book number 3. It will be another book in the Cowboy Kink series for The Wild Rose Press Scarlet line.

This book is the secondary characters out of Roped & Ready, Angie and Jared. I'm thrilled to be able to tell their story. When I have more information on release date and cover I will post here.
